BIOGRAPHY
Guillermo "Willy" Paredes has set the global standard for volleyball officiating. As a referee, he officiated at three Olympic Games, including the men’s gold medal final at Atlanta 1996, and led critical matches at World Championships, World Cups, and World League finals. As President of the FIVB Rules of the Game & Refereeing Commission since 2017, he has spearheaded modernization, education, and the development of officials worldwide. A key figure in Olympic officiating at Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024, he also served as President of the CSV Refereeing Commission and created pathways for South American referees to succeed on the world stage. A mentor and innovator, Paredes has shaped the evolution of volleyball refereeing for generations.
