Al Fish has the distinction of being the first person in the Western Hemisphere to be named an International Official (1956).

He was the U.S. Representative to the Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) World Congress in 1961, and the official World Games (1962), official Olympic Games (1964), and a member of the Jury of the World Championship (1966).
