The International Volleyball Hall of Fame (IVHF) exists to preserve the history of volleyball in its birthplace of Holyoke, Massachusetts USA by honoring, promoting and sharing its story with the world. The IVHF serves as the world’s historical repository and hall of fame for indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, sitting volleyball, and more. 167 athletes, coaches, officials and leaders from 26 countries have been inducted into the IVHF since 1985. The IVHF supports nearly a dozen local and national events each year consisting of grassroots development, youth, collegiate, and adult programs.

AVAILABLE OPPORTUNITIES
INTERN - PHOTOGRAPHY
We are seeking a photography student, interested in an internship with the International Volleyball Hall of Fame, to help catalog and archive our digital collection, photograph collection artifacts for digital archive, and work with the marketing team to capture, edit, and select photography for a number of outputs. The selected candidate will work directly with the Executive Director and key members of the Marketing Committee. This position is partially remote, and partially in person at the Hall of Fame in Holyoke, MA. Work will include selecting, organizing, and tagging digital photos and assets in our current digital archive. This position will include photography of artifacts in the collection, as well as creation of a standard treatment for artifacts photography going forward that aligns with the updated branding and best suits the artifacts.

INTERN - JUNIOR PRODUCTION DESIGNER
the International Volleyball Hall of Fame has an internship position for a Graphic Design Student interested in working with our marketing committee to work on marketing collateral promoting the IVHF. The ideal intern will be ready to create a series of graphics and designs based on the IVHF visual identity standards and in-market examples, under the guidance of the marketing committee. The intern will expand on existing templates, create unique graphics and visuals, experiment with video treatments and support the marketing committee to produce graphics for our social media, email and web channels. The internship will also include image searching, selecting, and photo-retouching. This position is remote, and 10-20 hours per week.

INTERN - EVENTS
The Intern, Events, will report directly to the Executive Director. The successful candidate will be tasked with assisting in all aspects of support to include but not limited to: team registration, event logistics and execution, and budget management. This position requires excellent organization, communication, planning and coordination. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload, and make recommendations for changes in office processes, programs and practices. This position answers non-routine correspondence exercising the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of constituencies. The position is located in Holyoke, Massachusetts but may be completed remotely. Extended hours may be required to include nights, weekends and holidays. Minimal travel may be required.

INTERN - FINANCE & OPERATIONS
The Intern, Finance and Operations, will report directly to the Executive Director. The position performs a variety of clerical and routine technical accounting duties involved in performing financial record keeping and reporting, which may involve confidential and sensitive materials. The intern will primarily be responsible for processing revenue and accounts receivable transactions as well as assisting the Executive Director with all financial and accounting matters. The intern will help review and provide recommendations to the Executive Director on the IVHF chart of accounts, policies & procedures. The position is located in Holyoke, Massachusetts but may be completed remotely. This position requires minimal travel.

INTERN - MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS
The Intern, Marketing & Communications will report directly to the Executive Director. The successful candidate will be responsible for engaging members and fans in the volleyball community via various digital platforms, growing brand awareness and affinity. The position serves as the lead for the IVHF website and email marketing campaigns, and will play a major role with our social media platforms and campaigns. This position is located in Holyoke, Massachusetts but may be completed remotely. Extended hours may be required to include nights, weekends and holidays. Minimal travel may be required.

INTERN - ARCHIVES & SPECIAL COLLECTIONS
The Intern, Archives & Special Collections will report directly to the Executive Director. Concentration in one field is selected by the student’s interests and projects available at the IVHF museum. Examples include archival based projects, collections and exhibition management, public programming and community outreach, and social media web development. Our internships are intended to enhance the student’s museum experience, cultivate professional skills, and independent work ethic. Internships are designed for individual students around their interests and availability. This position is located in Holyoke, Massachusetts but may be completed remotely. Minimal travel may be required.

The International Volleyball Hall of Fame Internship Program offers college students an opportunity to work alongside Hall of Fame staff and board members to gain hands-on professional training in a field that closely matches his/her major. Although we offer several areas of focus (see below), we provide a balanced exposure to the overall operations and programs of the Hall.
Schedule: Schedule can be flexible to fit intern’s class / work schedules and IVHF needs. Work may be performed at IVHF or as otherwise agreed. Customized multiple semester or summer internships can be developed in consultation with student and sponsoring school. Most internships are 10-40 hours per week.
Compensation: Hall of Fame internships are generally unpaid at this time due to the limitations of available funding. Credit and non-credit programs are acceptable.

Here are some examples of activities interns may participate in:
- Event Management including clinics, tournaments, recognition events, and the Annual Induction Celebration.
- Sales, Marketing, and Development activities are ongoing for the Hall of Fame. Intern assignments in support of these efforts will provide for interaction with IVHF staff, Board, volunteers, and consultants in a variety of ways to help accomplish revenue goals (annual and targeted financial appeals, event sponsorship, corporate partnership, tourism development, etc.) and expand community awareness of the Hall of Fame.
- Social Media, Public Relations and Communications projects (varied media) are interwoven into many of the IVHF activities and will impact every intern on some level. Targeted projects regarding social media, blogging, etc. are possible for interns with a specific interest.
- Operations is an opportunity to learn everything that goes into running an international non-profit organization. Projects include analyzing financial statements, budget preparation, observing board and committee meetings, strategic planning, event evaluation, to name a few.
- Archives and Collections will focus on: archival arrangement, preservation, and description; cataloging and metadata; collection development; and digital projects including our new volleyballhistory.org website.
- Computer Information System / Information Technology represent a growing need for the Hall of Fame in sport heritage, sport event and facilities management, archives management, tourism, and educational programming. Projects will be targeted for students with appropriate skills but may include website development and maintenance, databases, inventories, presentations, interactive exhibits, and more.
- Retailing/Merchandising opportunities include working within the museum gift shop, online store, and special events. Projects may include analyzing merchandise trends, designing retail displays, creating proposals for new merchandise, and more.
